Official portraits of Barack and Michelle Obama revealed this Monday:

Images of Barack and Michelle will be on display at the National Portrait Gallery. The revelation of the works took place this Monday. National Portrait Gallery in Washington presented on Monday (12) pictures representing former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, both painted by African-American artists who were personally chosen by the couple.
The gallery is part of the Smithsonian museum group and has a complete collection of presidential portraits. Another set of pictures of the Obama couple will hang in the White House.
Barack Obama Portrait was painted by Kehinde Wiley, artist known for making large and vibrant representations of African Americans. For the portrait of Michelle Obama, was commissioned to Amy Sherald, based in Baltimore and awarded a prize granted by the gallery in 2016. Barack and Michelle Obama returned to Washington's political center this Monday for the presentation of the chosen cadres to join the gallery of official portraits of former Presidents and first ladies of the White House. The two works were presented at the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian, thus fulfilling the customary rite of passage of the presidential couples of the United States. The next residence of the paintings will be the National Gallery of Washington, downtown of the capital.
Kehinde Wiley, a painter trained at Yale University, has frequently chosen portraits of the late American president, whose work often features African-American personalities in classical pose, incorporating games of vibrant color. The result was a green background, covered with brightly colored flowers, surrounding the image of the 44th President of the United States. When he saw the painting, Obama considered the work "expressive." Speaking to journalists, Wiley stressed that the painting intended to associate the idea of hope with the image of the former head of state.
